March 19 – April 4 Tyler’s Azalea and Spring Flower Trail

Miles of blooming azaleas, dogwoods and spring flowers highlight this annual event marketing the arrival of spring. The famed Azalea and Spring Flower Trail in Tyler runs from March 19 through April 4. Associated special events include a Roseland Plantation tea and tour on March 29, Quilters Guild of East Texas Quilt Show on March 26, outdoor arts and crafts fair March 20 – 21, and juried art show as well as a chili cook-off. ENCORE EVENT FOR 2009 TEA WEEKEND FANS- A unique networking opportunity for tea lovers in North Texas will be held at the Farmers Branch Historical Park. This afternoon affair will host Kay Shurtleff and Katie , educator from MesquiteISD – inspiring us on using the traditions of tea to influence at-risk youth. April 30- May 2 Historic Homes Tour and Festival, Jefferson

The Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club offers a tour of four gracious, historic homes, and wonderful shopping and cultural attractions in its 63rd Annual Pilgrimage and Spring Festival, entitled “Yesteryear Remembered,” April 30 – May 2. Can you picture the dogwoods now? Festivities will include five performances of the “Diamond Bessie Murder Trial and Play” at the Jefferson Playhouse. Military buffs won’t want to miss the Jefferson Guard Presentation of Colors Re-enactment on Sunday at 10 and a Pilgrimage Parade. April 30 – May 2   Sam Houston Folk Festival,     Huntsville

(Huntsville Airing of the Quilts Set for May 1)

Members of the Tall Pines Quilt Guild in Huntsville are offering another fun-filled day of quilts, games, great food and music on Saturday, May 1 in downtown Huntsville in the 9th Annual Airing of the Quilts, where more than 300 quilts will be on display.

This year’s raffle quilt, “Pride of Texas,” features lovely scenes and symbols of The Lone Star State. Tickets are $1 (email www.tallpinesquiltguild.com or call 936-295-8322 for more information). The drawing will be at 2 p.m.
